Operation Outreach, a national, literacy and character
education program has distributed nearly 1.8 million books to more than 830,000
students in the United States and Guam. The program is free to schools and is
paid for by local and national supporters.
This year the second grade students at Conant were selected to receive two gift
books from this organization. Representatives from Acton's Especially for Pets
visited the school to present the books and to talk to the students about compassion,
loyalty, and respect, as well as how to approach a dog and care for pets.
